From the debate samedi, 27. septembre 2008 09:31

I just finished my first debate with John McCain.

Millions of Americans finally got a chance to see us take on the fundamental choice in this election -- the change we need or more of the same.

I will provide tax cuts for the middle class, affordable health care, and a new energy economy that creates millions of jobs. John McCain wants to keep giving huge tax cuts to corporations, and he offered no solutions for the challenges Americans are facing in their daily lives.

I will end the war in Iraq responsibly, focus on defeating al Qaeda and the Taliban, and restore America's standing in the world after eight years of disastrous policies. John McCain wants an unending commitment in Iraq and fails to recognize the resurgent threat in Afghanistan.

Let's be clear: John McCain is offering nothing but more of the same failed Bush policies at home and abroad that he has supported more than 90% of the time in the Senate.

Americans need change now, and I need your help to get the word out about this movement.

In the coming days, it's going to be up to you to organize locally and reach the voters that are going to decide this election.

Now's the time to make your voice heard.

Please make a donation of $5 or more right now to support this campaign for change:

Tonight's debate samedi, 27. septembre 2008 02:42

Tonight's debate samedi, 27. septembre 2008 02:42
Now that John McCain has decided to participate in tonight's debate, don't forget to tune in and watch at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

This is a great opportunity to come together with your friends and family and hear Barack's plan to take our country in a fundamentally different direction.

But before you watch tonight's historic debate, there's something just as important that you can do right now.

I'm about to make a big request -- and I wouldn't ask if it weren't so important.

In the final weeks of this campaign, supporters like you will be traveling to the nearest battleground state to do the kind of work that will decide this election -- knocking on doors, talking to undecided voters, and getting out the vote on Election Day.

Will you sign up to travel to a battleground state and spend one, two or even three weeks helping to win this election?

Face-to-face contact with voters is the single most effective way to deliver the votes we need to win.

It may be a tight race, but we have something John McCain doesn't: a whole lot of passion and enthusiasm for change. I've seen it in the towns and cities I've visited in every corner of the country.

But it's up to each of us to make sure we turn this energy into votes on November 4th.

Don't let this election be decided by political stunts or distractions. Join your fellow supporters, roll up your sleeves, and help carry this campaign to victory.

Make a difference by traveling to a state where the race is extremely close and help put us over the top:

http://my.barackobama.com/driveforchange

Supporters like you are the only reason we've come as far as we have.

Now, we're counting on you to get us the rest of the way.

Thanks for everything you're doing,

Joe

Greed and irresponsibility mercredi, 24. septembre 2008 04:40

The era of greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street and in Washington has created a financial crisis as profound as any we have faced since the Great Depression.

Congress and the President are debating a bailout of our financial institutions with a price tag of $700 billion or more in taxpayer dollars. We cannot underestimate our responsibility in taking such an enormous step.

Whatever shape our recovery plan takes, it must be guided by core principles of fairness, balance, and responsibility to one another.

Please sign on to show your support for an economic recovery plan based on the following:

• No Golden Parachutes -- Taxpayer dollars should not be used to reward the irresponsible Wall Street executives who helmed this disaster.

• Main Street, Not Just Wall Street -- Any bailout plan must include a payback strategy for taxpayers who are footing the bill and aid to innocent homeowners who are facing foreclosure.

• Bipartisan Oversight -- The staggering amount of taxpayer money involved demands a bipartisan board to ensure accountability and oversight.

Show your support and encourage your friends and family to join you:

http://my.barackobama.com/ourplan

The failed economic policies and the same corrupt culture that led us into this mess will not help get us out of it. We need to get to work immediately on reforming the broken government -- and the broken politics -- that allowed this crisis to happen in the first place.

And we have to understand that a recovery package is just the beginning. We have a plan that will guarantee our long-term prosperity -- including tax cuts for 95 percent of families, an economic stimulus package that creates millions of new jobs and leads us towards energy independence, and health care that is affordable to every American.

It won't be easy. The kind of change we're looking for never is.

But if we work together and stand by these principles, we can get through this crisis and emerge a stronger nation.

Thank you,

Barack

The first debate mardi, 23. septembre 2008 20:01

The first debate mardi, 23. septembre 2008 20:01
This Friday, we'll reach another milestone in this campaign -- the first debate of the general election, on September 26th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Millions of Americans will tune in to watch Barack debate John McCain about America's foreign policy and our role in the world.

Barack will share his plan to bring the change we need -- to restore our place in the world, ensure security at home and abroad, and reestablish the United States as the world's economic leader.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the issues. And it's also a great opportunity for you to share Barack's message of change with your friends, family, and neighbors by attending or hosting a Debate Watch Party.

Watch the debate with friends and supporters, and talk about how you can get involved in this movement.

I recorded a brief message about these parties. Please take a moment to watch the video and sign up to attend or host a Debate Watch Party in your community.

Many Americans are still learning about Barack and this movement for change.

They don't know about his plan to restore the middle class, cut taxes for 95 percent of American families, provide health care for every American, achieve energy independence, improve our schools, and responsibly end the war in Iraq.

Many people also don't know that John McCain has voted with George Bush more than 90 percent of the time -- including to continue Bush's failed Iraq policies, not investigating the government response to Katrina, not supporting children's health care, not supporting college benefits for returning veterans, and passing tax cuts for the rich at the expense of the middle class.

This debate is a chance for Americans to hear directly from Barack. And with just a few weeks left before Election Day, it's more important than ever that we bring people together and talk about the issues that matter in our communities.

I hope you'll watch my short message and sign up to attend or even host a Debate Watch Party:

Thank you for all that you're doing,

Michelle

Midnight deadline vendredi, 19. septembre 2008 15:41

This week, we saw the stark differences between Barack Obama and John McCain on the economy.

With Wall Street in crisis and families struggling, Barack offered a solid plan to strengthen the middle class, including tax cuts for nearly all Americans. John McCain continued the same old politics -- lying about Barack's plan and offering more of the same George Bush policies, including more tax breaks for Big Oil and no solutions for working families.

It's time for that kind of politics to change. And thanks to supporters like you, our movement has grown by more than 50,000 new donors this week. Now we're within reach of a new goal -- 100,000 new donors by midnight tonight.

With just 45 days left before the election, your support will affect crucial decisions about infrastructure in key battleground states. A donation now could have a big impact on voter registration and Get Out The Vote operations -- so please don't wait if you're planning to give.

And if you make your first online donation today, your gift will go twice as far. A previous donor has promised to match every dollar you donate.

A matched donation of $5 becomes $10, a donation of $25 becomes $50, and a donation of $50 will become $100.

Show your support before midnight tonight and double your impact.

Thanks for everything you are doing,

David
